Requesting An Extension In Colombia
Europeans, North Americans and Austrailians do NOT require a Visa to visit Colombia. When a foreigner arrives to Colombia, the period of time allowed to stay by Colombian authorities is 30 days.
If a foreigner decides to stay beyond this period of time, he must go personally to the headquartes of DAS (Administrative Department of Security) and request an extension for an additional 30 days A foreigner can do this until he reaches a total of 180 days of stay in Colombia, beyond this period, he must leave Colombia or request a Visa.
Requirements:
Below are the requirements a foreigner must fulfill to request an extension to stay in Colombia:
• Visit any of the DAS offices.
• Present original valid passport and copy of stamped country’s entrance.
• Fill out corresponding form obtained at DAS office’s windows.
• Deposit $64,000 COP (fee is subject to slightly vary every year) at assinged bank.
Office hours in the DAS office are:
Monday to Friday from 7:30 am - 11:00 am and from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
